MyBeautyBrand is a new beauty platform whereby customers — not influencers — are the inspiration. Launched by Robin Derrick, former creative director for British Vogue, and business partner Max Leykind (co-founder Eyeko), the platform allows anybody to open a personalised e-store on the platform, share beauty looks and earn a commission on products sold. We worked with MyBeautyBrand to create a space that brings genuine self-expression back to the industry.
The MyBeautyBrand platform was created with digital natives in mind. The navigation is rooted in the mobile-first approach, ensuring customers can shop on their phones quickly and easily.
Clean, modern and gender-neutral, we chose a typeface that resonates with the MyBeautyBrand community.
Users can browse the latest and trending looks uploaded by the MyBeautyBrand community, allowing for organic product discovery. Additionally, customers can find products by browsing store profiles, related makeup tags and product categories.
Customers can become a member of the community by opening a personalised store profile on the site. Once they open their store they can upload photos or videos of their beauty looks. Store owners can easily share their profiles to their social media platforms, showcasing their looks to their family and friends.
MyBeautyBrand launched alongside ByME, a 60-strong product range produced by Intercos, one of the biggest suppliers in the cosmetic industry. The Italian laboratory is renowned for created make-up for the world’s coolest and most luxurious brands.
After uploading their look, store owners can easily add the products they used and are encouraged to use tags to help inspire others.
The product listing pages were created with content in mind and feature sections that can be easily updated by the ecomerce team. These sections can be used to highlight the key benefits from each product, educating the customer while they browse the product range.
“Self-expression will outrun the influencers in my opinion. The cat’s out of the bag and we’ve been given a tool now to speak to the world.” - Robin Derrick, MyBeautyBrand Founder and Creative Director.
The product detail pages give visual preference to images of the product on the skin. Customers can also view looks that have been created with the product, which is crucial for the customer, as it allows them to see the different ways in which the makeup can be experimented with.
